What's New



In order to provide information on developments of interest to libraries, museums, archives in connection with the calls to be launched under the Fifth Framework Programme, we are in the process of creating a new series of pages on the web at: http://www.echo.lu/digicult/ . The DigiCult What's New page will keep you up to date with new documents and information which will be added to the DigiCult section.



Our News page , updated almost every day, presents items of general interest on library, museums and archives and on the information society 
Our Events page , also frequently updated, provides details of pertinent conferences and meetings 

The following documents have recently been added:

  • Digital Preservation Guidelines - The state of the art in libraries, museums and archives. By Marc Fresko and Kenneth Tombs. These guidelines are available for downloading in PDF and Word format from http://www.echo.lu/digicult/en/backgrd.html .
  • Concertation Meeting on Public Libraries : held in Luxembourg, 8 March 1999. The agenda and a report of this meeting are available from the DigiCult site (12.03.99).
  • Metadata Projects, resources, workshops : a new page providing information and resources on metadata is now available on our site.(16.12.98) .
  • Ten Years of European Commission Support to European Libraries : Results and Perspectives. Paper given by Hans-Georg Stork, European Commission, DG XIII/E-4, Electronic Publishing and Libraries on the occasion of the 150 anniversary of the Cantonal and University Library of Fribourg, 20 November 1998. (15.12.98) .
  • Concertation Meeting on digitisation of library materials, Luxembourg, 14 December 1998. The full programme for this is now available with details of speakers and of the case studies and project experiences to be presented. Eleven speakers are confirmed to date, coming from national and major research libraries as well as from the private sector and bringing together the experiences digitisation from a number of European countries.(11.12.98) .
