Dr Margherita Spinazzola

As kindly requested by Mr Volmann of DG XIII, during his presentation of the Green Book in Florence last month, I am glad to let you have our comments. Soprintendenza per i beni librari e documentari della Regione Emilia-Romagna has always outlined the importance of libraries as active information centres.

Dr Rosaria Campioni, head of the dept, was only too glad to learn that this option is taken up on clause 66 of the Book (p 10 of the Italian version). Particularly as it should be carefully considered and questioned if 'a computer in every home' is a viable and feasable possibility; this point was also taken up during the works of the Florence meeting, organised by Midas-Net for the presentation of the Book and other projects of public-private cooperation and information in the public sector: Soprintendenza presented the ASCESI Project, now posted at www.ascesi.org

With best regards,

Dr Margherita Spinazzola
