Subject

The INFO2000 programme aims at stimulating the emerging multimedia content industry to recognise and exploit new business opportunities. Therefore the central theme of INFO2000 is the development of a European information content industry capable of competing on a global scale and able to satisfy the needs of Europe's enterprises and citizens for information content, leading, on the one hand, to economic growth, competitiveness and employment and, on the other hand, to individual, professional, social and cultural development.

Objective

The main aim of the pilot project is: to set up a service aimed at analysing the multimedia-specific skills required by the publishing industry; to develop and test a methodology aimed at adapting or creating new training corresponding to the new skills and the new professions in the electronic and multimedia publishing industry in the countries of the European Union and the EFTA countries; and to produce a complete teaching aid (for the trainer and the trainee) on different media, with a view to dissemination.

Results

A series of CD-ROM with modules of ODL (Open and Distance Learning) as tools for vocational training in the publishing sector will be ready by end of 1998.

Follow-up

The dissemination of the results will be realised trough an Action Plan, which will be defined in the Programme LEONARDO.
The MIDAS-NET nodes will use the pedagogical tools for specific training activities in favour of small and medium publishers through Europe.
