Publishing in Europe is rapidly approaching a critical junction. As new developments in the area of Electronic Publishing and New Media spur the emergence of new players, European publishers are facing major challenges affecting their future role and existence.
The European Commission contracted Andersen Consulting to investigate the strategic developments for the European publishing industry over the next three to five years. This study (EL-PUB 2) Was conducted together with the Institute for Information Economy and New Media to assist publishers in formulating their strategies. The main report contains the complete conclusions and detailed findings of this study, as well as supplementary information and examples of current electronic publishing activities.
